  • Role Objective

    As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering repair, corrective and planned preventative maintenance across the site working as part of the engineering team.

  • Areas Of Responsibility

    • dialogs Manage your own workload and ensure that work is completed to the standard required and any work outstanding is continued by the following shift.
    • dialogs Complete the work that comes from Audits, Work Requests and PPM follow ups.
    • dialogs Ensure you apply Health and Safety and Food Safety standards to all work undertaken.

    • dialogs Manage Health and Safety of external contractors on site when required and ensure those areas are clean and tidy upon completion.

    • dialogs Control and manage the ordering and quantity of engineering spares to ensure effective stock levels.
    • dialogs Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all engineering areas.
    • dialogs Communicate effectively across all levels of management and all departments in relation to any engineering activities and breakdowns.

  • Minimum Requirements

    Qualification and other requirements
    • dialogs Completion of a 4-year approved technical training program with a Minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical/electrical repair and maintenance.
    • dialogs 2 years electrical/mechanical experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved including third and fourth year apprentices.
    • dialogs Right to work in the UK and Should be above 18 Years.
    Technical Skills
    • dialogs Knowledge and experience of Pirana (desirable).
    Other Essential Skills
    • dialogs Have a solid understanding of operation/function and repair of all machinery on site and plant and associated equipment.

  • Role Objective

    The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for a team of Multi-Skilled Engineers and Machine minders ensuring the site can achieve target output. You will be tasked to minimise downtime through ensuring regular maintenance of equipment. The Engineering Supervisor will ideally be multiskilled having a thorough understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering, you will be working on several different machines and have a skillset and experience working with pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, gear boxes, valves etc. Ideally you will have the ability to fault find on PLC systems. Working in collaboration with maintenance and operations you will play a pivotal role in achieving objectives on waste reduction, productivity output, quality and will play an instrumental part in promoting Health and Safety ensuring the working environment is safe.

  • Areas Of Responsibility

    A. Engineering Supervisor Responsibilities
    • dialogs Reporting directly into the Site Chief Engineer. The Engineering Supervisor will take responsibility for the coordination of the engineering and maintenance functions across the site.
    • dialogs The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for supervising, planning and coordination of a team of multi skilled engineers, carrying out both electrical and mechanical work such as planned and reactive maintenance activities, reacting to breakdowns, finding out and eliminating the root-cause of problems and working on continuous improvement projects.
    B. Health and Safety

    • dialogs To ensure that safety and health of those that could be affected.
    • dialogs To ensure that machine and plant across the site is safely isolated or made safe as appropriate.
    • dialogs Promote a safe working environment by always following best practice.
    • dialogs Participate in regular checks and inspections of the workplace.
    • dialogs Comply with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
    • dialogs Actively engaged in risk assessments for HSE compliance and continuous improvement.
    C. Communication
    • dialogs Continuous status update of all plant, equipment and machinery following PPM’s, Servicing, Repair or breakdown actions.
    • dialogs Liaise with Chesterfield Poultry Ltd. Production staff to minimize downtime.
    • dialogs Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers at a technical level effectively communicating any concerns or queries.
    D. Administrative duties
    • dialogs Ensure that all tasks carried out within the PPM schedule, breakdowns and fault repairs are fully documented, recorded on Piranha Shire CMMS and filed. Including activity, repairs, equipment status and the use of consumables and parts.
    • dialogs Ensure any parts or consumables used are fully re-ordered, recorded for accountability, and replenishment.
    • dialogs Assist stores coordinator in identification of critical spares and suitable suppliers.
    • dialogs Maintaining control of the engineering spend.
    • dialogs Ensure engineering Computerised Maintenance Management systems is updated accurately and timely.
    • dialogs Monitor, manage and report on engineering team levels and holidays to ensure that there are sufficient engineering trades & machine minders to cover production and maintenance requirements.
    • dialogs Produce & maintain training records for engineers, machine minders and production staff who access machinery.
    E. Others
    • dialogs Overall supervisory responsibility of the engineering team across the site to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency form yourself and your team.
    • dialogs Assign general engineering and maintenance tasks to the team and follow up on their successful completion.
    • dialogs Follow a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule for all plant, equipment and machinery.
    • dialogs Carry out PPMs and repairs in a safe and hygienic manner as stated within the company Quality Management System ensuring that operational efficiencies are not adversely affected.
    • dialogs Undertake Root Cause Analysis on all failures and break downs to increase factory / plant equipment efficiency and availability.
    • dialogs Participate as required in the installation and commissioning of new plant, machinery and equipment.
    • dialogs Ensure tools, toolbox contents, parts and consumables are documented into and out of any food handling area.
    • dialogs Oversee engineering and service contractors for onsite compliance.
    • dialogs Be part of a call out rota to take a turn to be ‘on-call’ and ready to come into work if there’s a major problem.

    Experience

    • dialogs Experience of working with 3 phase, inverters, motors, mechanical automation assets, conveyors, pumps, compressors, condensers, DC current, abrasive wheels, dehydrators, PLC’s and PPMs.
